It is also an important cultural asset as well as a benchmark of tribal recognition. Affecting by the Mandarin Movement strongly promoted by Chinese migrants a few decades ago, our ancestors were forced to abandon the use of our tribal dialect, which subsequently impose negative impact for the generations to come. Today our youngsters have forgotten a lot of Taiya vocabulary and can no longer communicate with our tribesmen fluently. This is really a serious loss in terms of cultural preservation. Upon the coming of post-martial law era, people began to emphasize democratic consciousness and cultural localization. From then on, our tribal consciousness was awakened and stressed. We hope that we can actively promote the teaching of our tribal dialect through different media. Of course, we sincerely invite every one of you to participate in such a meaningful campaign.
